Mobile Roaming Consumer Rights in the EU

‘Roam like at home’ EU regulations first came into effect in 2017 allowing consumers to pay domestic prices for making calls, sending and receiving mobile phone texts, and using mobile data while roaming in the EU/EEA.

Within the European Union, ‘roam like at home’ means that you should be able to use your mobile service in the same way as you do at home when travelling abroad in the EU.

The EU mobile roaming regulations were renewed in 2022, which means that all EU mobile phone users will continue to benefit from free roaming for another ten years, from 2022 to 2032.
