Europe Day 2023

Europe Day 2023, on the 9th of May, marks the anniversary of the Schuman Declaration of 1950, and the European Union (EU) will commemorate the occasion with a variety of online and in-person events.

The EU institutions, including their delegations and representations worldwide, will provide opportunities for citizens to explore and engage with the EU. This year’s Europe Day will allow citizens to gain a better understanding of how the EU supports peace, security, and democracy. It will also highlight the EU’s efforts to create a green, digital, competitive, fair, skilled, strong, resilient, and safe Europe. In addition, it will draw special attention to the 2023 European Year of Skills, which commences on 9 May and will continue with the European Year of Skills Festival, which will link to other events focused on skill development across Europe.

The Representations of the European Commission, in cooperation with the European Parliament Liaison Offices, Europe Direct Centres, and other national and regional partners, will plan a range of activities to celebrate Europe Day. These events will include activities, quizzes, festivals, sports, cultural events, debates, visibility activities, and social media campaigns. Explore the events taking place in Ireland to celebrate Europe Day 2023 and also to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Ireland’s EU membership.
