The European Consumer Centres Network (ECC-Net) is marking two decades of protecting consumers across Europe in November 2025.

Since it was first formed in 2005, the network has supported citizens in the EU, Norway and Iceland facing cross-border disputes. Today, it covers 29 countries and supports 130,000 consumers each year on cross-border travel and shopping issues.

Some of the network’s biggest initiatives include addressing unfair commercial practices in the car rental industry, publishing practical guidance and tools for consumers, raising awareness of subscription traps and conducting research focused on currency and credit card charges in the airline sector.

ECC Ireland

As part of the network, ECC Ireland helps consumers based in Ireland who have a problem with an EU business in any of the other member states within the European Union as well as associated countries, Iceland, Norway and the United Kingdom.

To mark ECC-Net’s 20-year milestone, the ECC Ireland team celebrated with a special birthday cake and online event with their ECC-Net colleagues. ECC Ireland and our host, the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), are delighted to be part of ECC-Net. Pictured below is the ECC Ireland team with CCPC chair Brian McHugh.
