Data Protection and Privacy Policies

European Consumer Centre (ECC) Ireland strongly believes in your fundamental rights to privacy and data protection. We strictly limit the processing of your personal information to the minimum possible for the specific purposes described in the following policies.

What is personal data?

All information that can be directly or indirectly connected to a person counts as personal data. This may, for example, be your name, email address, address, or phone number.

CCPC Policies

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is the body designated to host the European Consumer Centre in Ireland.

The CCPC has a number of privacy policies, statements and protocols in place that outline the way the CCPC gathers information to carry out its legal functions, how the CCPC might use that information, the circumstances when they may disclose it and how they manage information.

ECC Ireland adheres to the CCPC’s policies and procedures in respect of data protection and privacy.

ECC-Net Privacy Policy

ECC Ireland is also part of ECC-Net, a network of independently managed offices which are co-funded by the European Commission.

ECC Ireland adheres to ECC-Net’s privacy statement in respect of processing personal data through the ECC-Net IT Tool (ECC-Net 2).

This privacy statement explains the reason for the processing, the way we collect, handle and ensure protection of all personal data provided, how that information is used and what rights you may exercise in relation to your data.
