Who are ECC Ireland?

ECC Ireland is part of an EU-wide network with an important remit to provide advice about your consumer rights when buying goods and services in EU and associated countries.

Our advice is aimed at consumers based in Ireland who have a problem with an EU business in any of the other member states within the European Union (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden), as well as associated countries, Iceland, Norway and the United Kingdom. We also provide advice on travel issues.

ECC Ireland is part of the European Consumer Centre Network (ECC-Net).

Consumer rights policy and awareness

We also play a role in consumer rights policy and awareness in several ways:

  • We produce consumer rights reports on specific problem issues, such as air travel, e-commerce, package holidays and cross-border bank charges
  • We participate in joint European Consumer Centre Network projects, consumer surveys and collaborative research that contribute to policy development
  • We cooperate with national consumer organisations and enforcement agencies in Ireland to contribute to consumer rights awareness and enforcement
